Apologies to everyone but Sainsbury’s application is not going to be considered at the Planning Committee on November 22nd. We have also been informed it might not be decided upon until the New Year. The Planning Office state the reason for the delay is a ‘high workload’ Whilst we are frustrated by this, our main concern is that the council’s planning office is continuing to talk to Sainsbury’s agents about how they can improve their application and frustrate local objections. We have today written to the Leader of the City Council expressing our concerns and calling on them to put the application to elected members as soon as possible. If local planning is part of the democratic process, decisions should be made in public not through negotiations between an unaccountable council officer and a private planning consultancy.
